ABU DHABI CULTURAL FOUNDATION RESIDENCY

Spencer was selected along with 12 other Artists for the Annual Residency Programme.
As someone that has lived outside his country of origin for the last 25 years and in the UAE for 16 of those  years Spencer explored his constant state of existing in a  temporary and  transient state . During the residency Spencer also researched and created works that represented his family heritage as Cockneys juxtaposed against the  colloquial languages of his host nation the United Arab Emirates .  The result was the creation of a body of work that included sculpture, installation moving image and performance works  entitled "I am neither Cockney nor Khaleeji"
